This section of Madrid de los Austrias, where the establishment is located, goes from the Puerta Cerrada square to the Ronda de Segovia. The so-called Madrid de los Austrias is a name that designates the founding nucleus of the city and the urban expansion promoted by the aforementioned royal dynasty.

It is flanked by buildings erected, for the most part, at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, as well as by different monuments and sites of a historical-artistic nature, dating from earlier times. The most outstanding ensembles are listed below, arranged in an east-west direction:

Church of San Pedro el Viejo. This Catholic temple is one of the oldest in Madrid. Its Mudejar tower dates from the 14th century.

Anglona Palace. It is a palatial mansion built around 1530, although its current appearance corresponds to a reform carried out in 1802. It owes its name to Pedro de Alcántara Téllez-Girón, prince of Anglona and Marquis of Javalquinto, who lived in the place in XIX century.

Garden of the Prince of Anglona. Annex to the Palace of Anglona, ??it is located on an embankment. It is one of the few examples of noble gardens from the 18th century that are preserved in the capital.

Straw Square. With a medieval layout, this square overlooks the street of Segovia through the Costanilla de San Andrés. Its most notable buildings are the Bishop’s Chapel and the Palacio de los Vargas, both from the 16th century.

Plaza de la Cruz Verde. It is defined by a widening of the street of Segovia itself. It is presided over by the Fountain of Diana the Huntress, from the 19th century, although its sculptural ensemble was made in the 18th century by the sculptors Ludovico Turqui and Francisco del Valle.

Parsonage. The current building dates from 1990 and is the work of Francisco de Asís Cabrero and Carlos Riaño. It preserves a coat of arms of Madrid, carved in granite stone in the 16th century, which is considered the oldest in the capital.

Segovia Viaduct. It consists of three vaults, 35 m wide. Under the central arch, which crosses a 23 m drop, passes the Calle de Segovia. It was built in 1934 to extend the street of Bailén, by its upper part.

Gardens of Las Vistillas. Monumental green complex that extends over the slopes and top of the primitive hill of Las Vistillas de San Francisco, at the foot of the Plaza de Gabriel Miró and based on a 1932 design by the architect Fernando García Mercadal and remodeled in 1945 by Manuel Herrero Palacios. They occupy the highest part of the hill of Las Vistillas and are distributed in two stepped platforms with wooded areas and patches of grass in the old set of the slopes of Javalquinto, Bailén, the Cuesta de los Ciegos with its staircase, and the undulating street of Beatriz Galindo.
