The Breogán Park commercial park has obtained the BREEAM® certification with an “Excellent” rating in the New Construction category, becoming the first new construction commercial park to achieve this in the design phase in Spain.
This project, located in the A Grela business park (A Coruña), will mobilize an investment of more than 100 million euros. In addition, it will have a significant impact on employment in the city of A Coruña, with the creation of more than 2,200 jobs during the construction phase, in addition to 1,000 jobs when Breogán Park is inaugurated and operational.
Urban regeneration
From BREEAM Spain they remember that Breogán Park, in addition to complying with the highest standards in terms of sustainability, is a unique example in Spain of urban regeneration, as it is the first complete transformation project of a disused shopping center, the Dolce Vita, in a commercial park that evolves and “revolutionizes” A Coruña and its surroundings, solving important mobility problems existing in the city.
From an architectural perspective, of urban regeneration and of A Coruña and its surroundings, the demolition of an abandoned infrastructure and a priori with few possibilities of use and the reconstruction of a new commercial space adapted to the new consumer and the new needs of today, will provide solutions and it will notably improve the conditions of an area of ??great importance for the city of A Coruña, such as A Grela.
The challenge they faced in this project was to achieve a balance between the needs of new commercial experiences and taking advantage of the positive values ??that the existing building offered us, relying on the existing structure and services to resurface with a new urban icon that, through the natural transition of technical solutions, would allow the building to be understood as a single space that improves the quality of life of the city and its inhabitants.
The A Grela Entrepreneurs Association also highlights the “added value that it will bring to the business environment where it is located, since it involves the redevelopment and modernization of a space that had few options for recovery. “With all this, A Grela will reaffirm itself as the benchmark commercial and business park”, they comment from the association.
